Predoctoral Fellow Henri received his B.A. from Sciences Po Paris, majoring in Economics and Sociology. After doing an exchange at MIT, he worked as a Technical Associate at MIT Sloan studying the challenges facing digital platforms that design labor markets. Henri is broadly interested in how social inequalities are mediated through the labor market and how different cultural assumptions and values work to shape their outcomes. He is excited to work as a predoctoral fellow at the Shift Project, as it presents an opportunity to put the “sociological imagination” to work in a policy setting. Gonçalo’s research centers on the intersection of urban, labor, and public economics, with a focus on market power and public policy to address it. Postdoctoral Fellow Rebecca Wolfe is a Post-Doctoral researcher at the Shift Project. Rebecca’s research with the Shift Project centers on features of supportive or toxic workplaces for young workers, the role of retail and food service workers in neighborhoods and communities, and qualitative methods. Postdoctoral Fellow Tyler Woods earned his BA in Sociology (magna cum laude with Distinction in Research and Creative Works) from Rice University and his AM and PhD in Sociology from Harvard University. He is interested in job quality, dignity, and well-being in the U.S. service sector, and his research has appeared in journals such as Work and Occupations, SSM-Mental Health, and RSF: The Russell Sage Foundation Journal of the Social Sciences.
