Sigrid Luhr is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Before joining UIC, she received a PhD in Sociology from the University of California, Berkeley. Much of her research examines the causes and consequences of workplace inequality across various sectors of the economy – from the low-wage service sector to the high-wage tech industry. Her book project draws on longitudinal interviews with tech workers to understand how racial and gender inequality is reproduced in Silicon Valley. Her research has been published in the American Journal of Sociology, Social Problems, and Gender & Society, among other journals.
