In January of 2020, in response to a written request from the office of New Jersey State Senator Loretta Weinberg, the Shift Project issued a report on scheduling conditions in New Jersey. Co-PI Daniel Schneider shared expert findings at a press event on scheduling in food service and retail in the state of New Jersey. The event and report was covered in the press and cited in an editorial in the NJ Star Ledger calling for the passage of secure scheduling legislation.
